Ali Mohammed Uwais
Job Title: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL SERVICES DIVISION
Education: Mr. Ali Mohammed Uwais hails from Zaria, Kaduna State. He is a 1987 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria with a Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering. He became registered with the Council of Registered Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 1993.
Career: Mr. Uwais started his career as a Civil/Structural Engineer with a private Consulting firm, Civ - Struct Associates in Lagos, before joining NNPC in 1989 as a Civil Engineer II with Engineering and Technical Division (ETD), Apapa, Lagos.
In 1990, he was seconded to Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) as one of the pioneer staff of the Company. He worked in the teams that relocated the host community, cleared the site and developed the Project Specifications for the NLNG Residential Area, Trains 1 and 2, the OGGS Slug catcher and the design and procurement activities of all the Six NLNG Trains.
In 1998, he worked for a short span of time in the Gas Division of NAPIMS as a Facilities Engineer.
At NLNG, he held the key positions of Head of Civil Engineering, for Construction of Trains 3, 4 and 5 in Bonny, Rivers State (2001 to 2004), the Deputy Resident Manager and Lead Project Engineer for Train 6 Outside Battery Limit (OSBL) Project Design and Procurement in Contractors office , Paris France (2004 to 2006). The last position he held at NLNG before returning to NNPC in 2010 was Construction Coordinator for the (OSBL) and Additional Scope Items (ASI) of Train 6 Construction, Commissioning and Handover (2006 to 2010).
In 2010, he returned to NNPC Headquarters to Lead the LPG Project in the LNG Division and at the same time was supporting the Brass LNG Limited as a subject matter expert in various locations of the Project and Business within Nigeria, the United States of America, and United Kingdom.
Mr. Uwais in 2014 was assigned the role of Manager in the LNG Division, NNPC Headquarters overseeing NLNG Production activities and the Trains 7 and 8 project development until his assignment to NPDC in May 2016, in acting capacity before being appointed as the substantive Executive Director Engineering and Technical Services of NPDC in November 2016.
