GENERAL MANAGER, EXPLORATION AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
Education: Mr. John Teowhare Salubi hails from Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the prestigious University of Ibadan.
Career: Mr. Salubi started his career in NNPC as an Operations Geologist in Exploration Department of the E&E Division in 1983. He worked through the years as Operations (Wellsite) Geologist and Drilling Operations Engineer with the E&E Division. He later worked as Reservoir Geologist/Seismic Interpreter at NAPIMS where he rose to become Chief Geologist in 1999. At NAPIMS, Mr. Salubi participated in many projects such as Mobil’s Ubit UU-1 Reservoir Study, Chevron’s Meren Simulation Study and Delta/Tapa 3D Seismic Interpretation. He correctly interpreted the Agip’s Okubie-1 well as non-viable prospect thereby saving the JV the sum of $6.5m. He also evaluated Mud Logging & Wireline Contracts that led to JV savings of $2.0m.
In 2001, he was transferred to the Reservoir Engineering Services Department (RESD), IDSL. He worked as Project Manager for Chevron’s Jisike and Jokka Reservoir Studies and Addax’s Ossu Field Studies where he achieved an enviable feat of completing all projects in record time. Mr. Salubi was promoted to the position of Deputy Manager, Geological Services, RESD, in January 2004. He thereafter became Manager, Data Acquisition Department (DAD) in January, 2007. As Manager, DAD, he coordinated projects such as Chevron’s Gbokoda, Okan, Madu and Anyala Reservoir Studies. His remarkable contribution led to the profit made by IDSL in 2007 and 2010.
On November 2016, he was appointed General Manager, Exploration and Development Division, NPDC, and has since continued to position and transform the Division to align with NPDC objectives. He is reputed for his integrity, professional competence and job Knowledge. He is a team player with decades of cognate experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
External Roles: Mr. Salubi has worked with several IOCs for Acquisition of 3D/4D Seismic Survey for Petrobras OPL-319, SPDC Rumuekpe and Assa North prospects, PanOcean OPL-275 and OPL-98 Pseudo 4D. He worked with Agip on the Chad Basin Integrated Study and managed the execution of her OML62 Sequence Stratigraphic Studies. He is a member of NAPE, AAPG, SEG, SPE, NMGS and COMEG.
