The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Andrew Yakubu has commended the NNPC top Management for their supportive role from the inception to the topping out of the new Head-Office building of NPDC.
Engr. Andy Yakubu made this commendation during the topping out ceremony of the new NPDC head-office building along the Airport/ Ogba Road Benin City.
According to the GMD, ‘the topping out ceremony marked the completion of the frame structure of the high-rise building project as the last beam was decorated with comments before it was hoisted into place by crane’.
Engr. Yakubu who was represented by the Acting Group Executive Director, Exploration & Production (GED, E&P), Dr. Joseph Dawha, also disclosed that the project was primarily embarked upon to provide office accommodation adding that it was a clear demonstration of NNPC’s drive for excellence and determination to bequeath to future generation a world class Oil and Gas Company.
Speaking at the occasion, the Group Executive Director, Engineering and Technology (GED, E&T), NNPC, Engr. Adebayo Ibirogba stated that the project which commenced on the 15th August, 2012 was designed to include a training centre that will accommodate 250 persons at peak periods. It can also be used as an independent 60-seater training room with flexible folding partitions, ancillary spaces for storage and lounge activities.
There is also a canteen building which comprises of a ground floor housing an industrial kitchen, and an 80-seater dining hall, another upper floor which is expected to accommodate a 350-seater dining hall with terraces and dumb-water lifts.
The main building is a magnificent Tower that is made up of seven floors including the basement level, and a modern auditorium that can become a meeting place for the entire top hierarchy of NNPC.
Also in his remarks, the acting Managing Director of NPDC, Mallam Hamidu Namtari expressed his appreciation to the host communities comprising Oko, Iririh and Ogba for the peaceful relationship between them and the construction company.
He further urged the construction company to maintain the safety standards till the final completion of the project.
