The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited (NPDC) and the Uzere community recently signed an Interim Memorandum of Understanding (IMoU) for its operations in Uzere West Field, OML 30.
The importance of the IMoU cannot be overemphasized, as it marks the beginning of serious commitment and cooperation between NPDC and Uzere community. This according to the Managing Director, NPDC, Mr. Iyowuna Briggs has opened a new vista for the establishment of a framework and the principles of collaboration to achieve desired objectives.
Addressing the Community, during the signing ceremony, Mr. Briggs stressed the need for amicable resolution of community issues which he said is a strategic imperative towards the realization of the objective of the partnership.
“There could be challenges. But the most important is our ability to surmount our differences and forge ahead for the benefit of both parties”, the MD implored.
He expressed his gratitude to the community for signing the IMoU describing it as historic and appealed to all to ensure that the relationship is beneficial to both partners.
In his response, the President General of Uzere Community, Chief Emeakpor Owhe expressed his happiness that the IMoU was finally signed. He reiterated the importance of sincerity and adherence to the terms of the agreement.
Chief Owhe also appealed to NPDC to create employment opportunities for Uzere Community youths and ensure the timely completion of community projects.
